Are You Ready To Be A Supremo?
Four Reasons you need to join Medicard’s 1st obstacle challenge
Makati City, Philippines – March 05, 2020 –Nowadays, there are tons of options for people who want to get started or maintain their active lifestyles. Some subscribe to gym classes while others prefer doing home-based workouts. Some even combine both. But what if you can level up the thrill of working out by conquering obstacles?
This summer, Medicard, a leading health and maintenance organization in the country, makes this fun and thrilling experience of an obstacle course through the Medicard Supremo Obstacle Challenge, a first and one-of-a-kind activity that aims to promote a healthier and fitter lifestyle.
Before cracking your knuckles and to get started in conquering this challenge, here are five things you need to know about the Supremo Obstacle Challenge:
Everyone can join
Let’s get the record straight—whether you are a couch potato or a fitness enthusiast, you are encouraged to join the Supremo Obstacle Challenge. The registration fee is at Php 1,500 only, which includes a shirt, gym bag, and headband. But if you are planning to sign up as a group of 10, you will avail of the discounted price of PhP1,000 per participant.
Exciting conditioning programs
Now here’s the catch. There will be a big culminating activity, happening on May 31 at the Glorietta Activity Center. And so, to prepare you for the Supremo Obstacle Challenge, conditioning programs, which are more like training classes, will be held from March 16 to May 31.
Unlike other aerobic and exercise activities, Supremo Obstacle Challenge combines several workout routines to test the agility, flexibility, balance, cardiology, dexterity, and the endurance of each participant through a combination of cardio, running, and rope exercises, as well as Crossfit workouts through the use of dumbbells and short but high-intensity exercises.
You may choose to go to the three conditioning program venues, which will be held at Eton Centris in Quezon City (March 16 to 27), Festival Alabang (April 20 to May 1), and Ayala Triangle in Makati (May 5 to May 15). The conditioning program will run every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 6 pm to 8 pm.
Train with Professional Coaches
Professional coaches will closely monitor and supervise your progress and make an evaluation of your readiness to know if you are a beginner or an advanced athlete. The coaches also developed workout programs suited to the participants of both categories.
For its first installation, the Affiliate Alliance, a network of CrossFit-affiliated boxes all over the country, will head the Medicard’s Supremo Obstacle Challenge.
The group also counts in its ranks several of the country’s recognized fitness experts such as Andrea Arcega, former head coach of Spartan Race Philippines, Mark Lamson, one of the elite athletes in the country, Cilyn Abella, a four-year coach at the Complete Fitness in Ortigas, Nolan Collado, a physical therapist, CrossFit coach Raymond Manual, Vlad Salum, also a CrossFit trainer and more.
Big prizes are up for grabs
The top three male and top three female participants from both the beginners and advanced categories will get to compete in the culminating event. If you are one of these qualifiers, you will be asked to train some more at the Pretty Huge Obstacle at the SM Aura in Taguig City.
And then, all the qualifiers will converge at the Glorietta Activity Center to compete for the PhP25,000 cash prize for the 1st place, PhP15,000 for the 2nd place, and PhP10,000 for the 3rd place winners, respectively.
“We launched the Medicard Supremo Obstacle Challenge to encourage everyone to push their limits and inspire them to lead a healthier and fitter lifestyle,” said Dr. Nicky Montoya, MediCard President. “For all the beginners and fitness enthusiasts out there, we invite to join this one-of-a-kind event and take on the challenge to be a Supremo.”
