What should I know about Influenza A (H1N1)?

  • Novel Virus. It is caused by a new virus which is a re-assortment of 4 viruses from pigs, humans, & birds.
  • Transmission. It is spread from person to person, via droplets that are expelled by speaking, spitting, sneezing or coughing. The droplets spread about 1 meter or 3 feet from the infected person, through the air or on hard surfaces. It can live for several hours on hard surfaces, paper, or cloth. Touching things with the virus on it, & then touching your eyes, nose, & mouth can also cause spread.

    The whole MANCOM was having lunch in celebration of an officer’s birthday late January when Luis Montoya, EVP/GM enjoined everyone for a trek in Pinatubo.  At first, the Mancom members thought it was just an idea, but when he asked for a quotation in Mid March, we knew he was serious.  So when, Mr. Montoya decided to push through, everyone was apprehensive.  We were not ready!!
